The government has expressed concern over the volume of intra-trade between Small scale Cross Traders who are not included in the tax basket.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Trevor Kaunda says it is worrying that small scale Cross Traders transacting below US$2,000 are not captured by the Zambia Revenue Authority.
He says this negatively affects state coffers by limiting the tax net, and loss of potential revenue.
Apparently, according to Zambia Statistical Agency, the country recorded reduction (K800m) in its trade balance in 2020, compared to 2019.
