The Constitutional Court has cancelled the High Court ruling in a petition Patrick Mucheleka of UPND had petitioned the election of PF Lubasenshi MP Taulo Chewe, reports Martha Banda.
This is one of the Seven seats UPND had successfully petitioned at High Court.
The PF mobilised a number of it’s lawyers to take the cases to the Highest court of appeal.
The Constitution Court ruled that Chewe was dully elected in Lubasenshi.
High Court Judge Maria Mapani Kawimbe had nullified the seat following evidence of malpractice adduced by by Mucheleka and an independent candidate George Mwamba.
Despite successfully petitioning the case at High Court, President Hichilema appointed him as one of the many Permanent Secretaries under Special Duties at Cabinet Office.
