Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba commonly known as GBM has offered to donate towards the K5 million needed for PF to hold an elective extraordinary general Assembly to elect a successor to former president Edgar Lungu, reports Asa Manda.
The PF Central Committee that sat over the weekend announced that the party needed K5 million to hold the general assembly next month in June.
The meeting chaired by Acting president Given Lubinda appealed to members and well wishers to contribute towards the holding of the general assembly.
Responding to the call, GBM who is a Business man and one of the renowned members of the PF pledged to donate towards the K5 million needed.
GBM told the Daily Nation Newspaper that he will donate a substantial amount without mentioning the figure and appealed to others members to do so.
“I’m consulting people from all the provinces on whether I should contest any position in the Patriotic Front ahead of the anticipated June convention and will donate a substantial amount of money to towards that cause,” GBM is quoted to have said.
GBM who once served as Vice president of UPND before rejoining PF could not disclose the amount he was going to fork out but that it would be substantial.
“I cannot give you the amount of money I m going to contribute. Definitely I m going to contribute something that will help the party come June,” he said.
