The proposed international friendly match between the Zambia men’s national team and India has been canceled the ZamFoot Crew understands.

According to a post on the FAZ Facebook page monitored by the ZamFoot Crew, the reason for the cancellation is that Chipolopolo boss Aljosa Asanovic will not have the majority of players he needs Ivory Coast match.

“The Chipolopolo will not be heading to Doha given the unavailability of the bulk of the players the coach needs for the Ivory Coast assignment.”

Zambia was suppose to face the Blue Tigers of India in Doha, Qatar in an international friendly match on 25th May.

The Chipolopolo Boys was expected to use the game against India as part of their preparations for the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

The Copper Bullets were drawn in group H alongside hosts Côte d’Ivoire, Comoros and Lesotho for the qualifiers of the 34th edition of the international men’s football championship of Africa.

Aljosa Asanovic’s men will start their campaign with an away fixture against the 2015 Champions, Ivory Coast on May 30th.

Zambia will be desperate to make it to the continental showpiece after missing the last three consecutive tournaments.

Zambia last qualified for the tournament in 2015 under now Namungo FC boss Honor Janza.
