Chipolopolo Boys skipper Enock ‘The Computer’ Mwepu and his Copper Queens’ counterpart Barbra Banda have led the best wishes for the Women’s national team ahead of their match against the Lionesses of Cameroon.
The Copper Queens will be without their skipper Barbra Banda for the Morocco 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations who has been knocked out due to medical reasons.
Banda took to social media to encourage her teammates ahead of their opening match of the tournament.
“All the best team, I will be cheering for you until when I can be back on the pitch with you. We keep pushing. Let’s give it our best shot.
I’m with you all the way.”
Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder also took to social media to urge fans to support the team despite the unfortunate news of missing their skipper.
The Copper Queens’ match will be the second fixture of the day that will begin at 19h00CAT and will be live on SuperSport. In the other Group B match, Tunisia will face Togo at 22h00CAT.
The 2022 TotalEnergies WAFCON kicked-off on Saturday with hosts Morocco edging Burkina Faso 1-0.
The Tournament will run from 2-23 July 2022 in the cities of Rabat and Casablanca.
The WAFCON is being used as a qualifier to the 2023 New Zealand/Australia FIFA Women’s World Cup where the top four teams in Morocco will qualify for the event.
