It is without doubt that Sydney Kalume is aging like fine wine looking at the brilliant performances the veteran produced last season.
The defensive midfielder believes he is still energetic and looking forward to winning more trophies with NAPSA Stars.
Kalume, 35, joined the Pensioners in the middle of last season and was instrumental in aiding the team in qualifying to the Super League.
The player was also instrumental in helping the Pensioners bag the ABSA Cup trophy, just a season after winning it with his previous club Lusaka Dynamos.
Kalume said in an interview with NAPSA Stars media team that he is looking forward to playing continental football with the club.
The player joined in Week 19 of the Eden National Division One league, and played 14 league matches, as well as all the three games of ABSA Cup.
He said he contributed immensely to the team’s double success, and would still want to be part of the future success.
The veteran also adds that his words of encouragement to the young players and leadership on the field of play was something he is proud of.
“We worked so well as a team and I am so happy that I got to be part of this team being coached by Perry Mutapa,” Kalume added.
Asked how he manages to stay in shape after so many years of playing, the veteran says he takes great care of his body and has advised younger players to do the same.
“I am happy to be part of this NAPSA Stars success and I know I contributed my hard work and encouragement to the young players,
“All I can advise our young players is that they need to take good care of themselves, their bodies and their diet. They should also watch the company they keep around them, all this contributes to a great player,” Kalume adds.
